Jan. 28 (Bloomberg) — Companies including Spain’s Tecnicas Reunidas SA and Sacyr Vallehermoso SA unit Valoriza Agua have started work to double the capacity of a water desalination plant in Perth, Australia.
The Southern SeaWater Alliance consortium invested 350 million euros ($471 million) in the expansion, the Spanish engineering and building companies said today in a joint statement. The group, also formed by AJ Lucas and WorleyParsons, will manage the plant for 25 years.
After expansion works are completed, the desalination plant near Binningup will guarantee future water needs to communities spread from metropolitan Perth to the Goldfields, according to the statement.
