Bloomberg New Energy Finance was founded by Michael Liebreich in 2004 in order to provide subscription-based services on the clean energy industry. From its beginnings as a small team of analysts in a small office in London, it now employs some 200 analysts and sector specialists with offices in Europe, North and South America, Africa and Asia. In 2006, it added analysis and modelling of the carbon markets to its suite of services. In 2009 New Energy Finance was acquired by Bloomberg, the world’s most trusted source of data, news, analytic and trading tools for businesses and financial professionals. Bloomberg was founded in 1981 with one core belief: that bringing transparency to capital markets through access to information could increase capital flows, produce economic growth and jobs, and significantly reduce the cost of doing business.
