Nov. 24 (Bloomberg) — Canadian Solar Inc., the largest
North American photovoltaic manufacturer, sold a 28.4-megawatt
plant in California’s Mojave Desert to Dominion Resources Inc.
Terms of the sale weren’t disclosed. The West Antelope
Valley facility, which began operating this year, has a 20-year
contract to sell power to PG&E Corp., Guelph, Ontario-based
Canadian Solar said today in a statement.
The Antelope Valley area in the Mojave Desert has drawn
interest from numerous solar developers, including Warren
Buffett’s MidAmerican Energy Holdings Co., which is spending
$2.74 billion to build a project.
With the acquisition of the solar farm about 60 miles (97
kilometers) north of Los Angeles, Dominion has 344 megawatts of
solar generating capacity under development or in operation
across six states, the Richmond, Virginia-based company said
today in a separate statement.
