(Bloomberg) — Electricite de France SA’s U.S. renewable
energy unit agreed to buy a wind farm in the Texas Panhandle.
The Salt Fork project will have as much as 200 megawatts of
capacity when it’s complete next year, according to a statement
Tuesday from San Diego-based EDF Renewable Energy. Terms of the
purchase from Cielo Wind Power LP weren’t disclosed.
The local utility Garland Power & Light has agreed to buy
the electricity under a long-term contract.
Including Salt Fork, which is about 45 miles (72
kilometers) east of Amarillo, EDF Renewable has 1.2 gigawatts of
wind-energy capacity in operation or under development in Texas.
