Infinis Buys Onshore Wind Farm in U.K.’s Northeast

(Bloomberg) — Infinis Energy Plc, a U.K. clean-power
developer, bought an onshore wind farm in the country’s
northeast.

The company purchased the 18.5-megawatt Northumberland site
expected to begin working in June 2016 from The Peel Group,
Northampton-based Infinis said Tuesday in an e-mailed statement.
The project will be built in time to receive subsidies under the
U.K.’s Renewable Obligation program.

The government last week said it would go ahead with an
election pledge to scrap subsidies to onshore wind farms in
2016, a year early. The move angered the clean-energy industry
as it ends support for the cheapest large-scale renewable power.
