Sept. 30 (Bloomberg) — LC Eletronica, a Brazilian maker of
liquid crystal displays, is planning to invest 200 million reais
($81.7 million) to build its first solar panel plant.
The Santa Rita do Sapucai-based company will start building
the plant in Minas Gerais state next year, with manufacturing
beginning at the end of 2016, Jesiel Chagas, LC Eletronica’s
manager, said in a phone interview today.
Closely held LC Eletronica is still studying the size of
the facility and is seeking financing from public and private
banks in Brazil, he said. The company already has approval from
local authorities for a pilot project.
