Marin Clean Energy, a community choice aggregator in Northern California, is planning a 10.5-megawatt solar farm in the state with developer Cenergy Power.
The MCE Solar One project in Richmond, California, will provide power for more than 3,400 homes, the aggregator said in an emailed statement Monday. The city of Richmond and MCE agreed to a 50 percent local-hiring requirement to build it.
Marin Clean Energy, or MCE, was formed in 2008, the first community consumer aggregator in California, after a 2002 law let communities buy power on behalf of residents. The not-for-profit agency serves Marin and Napa counties, as well as several nearby cities.
