MB Holding to Build First Geothermal Plant in Croatia: Anadolu

(Bloomberg) — MB Holding, a Turkish renewable-energy
developer, is planning to build the first geothermal plant in
Croatia, Anadolu Agency reported.

The 10-megawatt project will cost about $33 million and be
operational in 2017, Muharrem Balat, the company’s chairman,
said Tuesday. MB Holding also built Turkey’s first geothermal
plant.

“We won the tender for exploring geothermal reserves in
all Croatian fields in February,” Balat told Turkey’s state-run
press agency. After completing the initial facility “we will
start exploring these fields as well to develop geothermal
energy in Croatia.”

Croatia is seeking to meet more than one-third of its
electricity demand by 2025 using renewable sources, according to
the news agency.
