Sempra Acquires 78-Megawatt Minnesota Wind Farm From Geronimo

(Bloomberg) — Sempra Energy, the U.S. utility planning to
create a separate renewable-power company, bought a 78-megawatt
wind farm in Minnesota from Geronimo Energy.

Construction on the Black Oak Getty wind farm in Stearns
County is expected to begin next year, San Diego-based Sempra
said in a statement Thursday. Terms weren’t disclosed.

The wind farm is expected to produce enough power for about
30,000 homes. Minnesota Municipal Power Agency has agreed to buy
the output under a 20-year contract.

When finished, the wind farm will give Sempra stakes in
wind-power-generating assets in seven states with a total
capacity of more than 1.2 gigawatts, according to the statement.
