Sumitomo to Build 50MW Woody Biomass Power Plant in North Japan

(Bloomberg) — Sumitomo Corp. will build a 50-megawatt
woody biomass power station in the northern prefecture of
Yamagata.

Construction of the 25 billion yen ($208 million) station
will begin in June and operations will start in May 2018, the
Tokyo-based trading company said in a statement Thursday.

Sumitomo, through power retailing unit Summit Energy Corp.,
has two other biomass stations, a 50-megawatt plant operating
since 2005 and another 75-megawatt station under development,
according to the statement.
