(Bloomberg) — Sustainable Power Group, an independent
power producer that’s focused primarily on solar, is expanding
into wind energy by acquiring a 62.1-megawatt project in
southeastern Utah.
The wind farm in San Juan County is expected to begin
generating electricity by the end of the year, Salt Lake City-based Sustainable Power said in a statement Monday. Terms
weren’t disclosed.
Berkshire Hathaway Inc.’s PacifiCorp unit agreed to buy the
output under a 20-year contract.
Sustainable Power, also knows as SPower, is backed by Fir
Tree Partners. It owns or operates more than 150 utility- and
commercial-scale power plants in the U.S. and U.K., according to
the statement. Fir Tree Partners manages about $13 billion.
