Toshiba Working With Ethiopian Electric Power on Geothermal

Sept. 29 (Bloomberg) — Toshiba Corp. and Ethiopian
Electric Power will jointly work on geothermal power plants.

Toshiba will develop and produce large equipment used for
the plants, create operational and management guidelines and
develop a waste-heat business as part of the agreement, the
Tokyo-based company said today in a statement on its website.

Ethiopia’s geothermal resource, estimated at about 6,000
megawatts, it mostly unexploited as the country gets 90 percent
of its electricity from hydropower, the company said.
